Back Details

American Eagle shirt, Gap tank, DIY shorts

Some of my favorite pieces are very simple and look plain in the front, but they have eye-catching details in the back. This shirt and these shorts both have these details! The shirt has a pretty printed ribbon tie across the semi-open back. Lace pockets are the short's back details. If you haven't already seen it, check out the DIY for these shorts here. They are super cute and easy to make. Simple, but bold details in the back make a difference that will get you noticed!

I've been busy lately trying to enjoy the last few weeks of summer. I am not stopping the blog, I have just been out of town and with friends. I would really love to hear ideas from any of you! Email me, comment on this, or contact me through the Facebook page. Knowing what you want is very important so that I can post things you want to see!

Style interview: Jenna

Last week I didn't post any because I was having the best week of my life at church camp! God showed Himself and impacted me in so many ways. I also had an amazing time meeting new friends and doing all of the camp activities!

Style interviews may be my favorite type of post! For some reason, I find it fascinating when I ask people the same style questions and see how everyone's answers are different. I also love seeing the outfits that they pick out. My dream job is to work at a fashion magazine so I could style shoots and interview celebrities.

I'm so glad that Jenna agreed to do a style interview with me! She is definitely someone whose outfits inspire me. She never dresses boring, her choices are bold and daring. Jenna mixes patterns like a pro. Enjoy her interview!

Simply Daring: What are your five clothing or accessory staples?
Jenna: Pearl earrings, cardigans, floral print, headbands, and bracelets.
SD: Who is your favorite designer?
J: Jenna Lyons- she is the designer for J Crew, and I am in love with J Crew and J Crew kids! I love the outfits she puts together because they are elegant, yet new... something you don't see everyday.

SD: Is there a character whose style your really admire?
J: Spencer Hastings off of Pretty Little Liars.
SD: Clothes from which decade or era should make a comeback?
J: The 50's!! I love the dresses that are featured in The Help!
SD: Why do you like fashion?
J: I like fashion because it separates people from other people and lets you stand out. Also, you get to express your personality though your clothes!

SD: What are your favorite stores?
J: My favorite stores are J. Crew, GapKids/Gap, Forever 21, and Old Navy.
SD: Which country or city has the best style in your opinion?
J: Italy!

SD: Who is your style icon?
J: My style icon would have to be Emma Stone.
SD: Are you currently saving for a fashion purchase?
J: Yes, it's a J.Crew pleated striped dress.
SD: How do you describe your personal style?
J: I would say my personal style is not like anyone else's, but it still is semi-preppy.

Back from my Break

I'm so sorry for not posting any last week! I was at the beach, and our condo didn't have wifi. However, I'm sort of glad because it was great to just relax and have fun! This vacation was possibly one of my favorites. I met so many people and had an overall amazing time. I'm leaving for camp on Monday, but I'm going to try to prepare a couple of posts and have someone else publish them for me. I don't know what will happen though so just keep checking!:)
Forever 21 denim shirt, Beach shop tank, GapKids
shorts, Target sandals, Accessorize headband

This is the first outfit from a series Courtney and I took when we went out to her cabin the other weekend. All of the pictures are stunning and they have such a great nature backdrop. Enjoy!

I've been looking for a denim shirt for a while now! The search has been difficult since I have been trying to find one with a super soft wash that was also pretty inexpensive. I picked up this one at Forever 21 and absolutely fell in love with it! I paired it with a simple white tank, bright red shorts, and black sandals. My hair is just natural and I slipped in a braided headband that matches my hair color.

Summer Favorites

The YouTube user macbarbie07 posted a video recently that inspired this post. It was all about her favorite summer products. My makeup, hair, and style is usually a lot easier and carefree in the summer. I didn't use all of the exact categories that she did, but I used most of them. Personally, I love hearing about the different products that people use. If you have a blog with a post like this tell me, or put your favorites in the comments. I would love to try out your favorite products!
Most of these pictures aren't mine because I didn't want to post pictures of my used products. I will cite each picture back to it's original website.

Favorite Eye Product: This Too Faced pallet is absolutely amazing. It has the greatest natural colors with just the right hint of shimmer. The cards that come with it help you easily recreate the best natural eye looks.

Favorite Lip Product: My favorite lip product for summer is this Burt's Bees lip balm. It's a great moisturizer, has a nice scent, and is 100% natural.

Favorite Blush: The staying power and color of this makes it my favorite! The consistency is almost a cross between cream and powder, and I love it!

Favorite Liquid Face product: This Clinique foundation covers all of your imperfections while working to make dark spots and acne disappear. It has SPF 15, which is great for summer because you should always protect your skin from the sun.
{purchase this here}
Favorite Perfume: I am in love with this VS Pink perfume that I purchased this winter. It was special edition, and it isn't sold anymore though. It has a light and sweet scent perfect for summer.

Favorite Accessory: Bracelets are definitely my favorite summer accessory. I love layering them all over my wrists. My collection includes friendship bracelets, Emi-Jay hairbands, and wrap bracelets.

Favorite Clothing Piece: You probably guessed this one, shorts! As most of you know, I absolutely love a cute pair of shorts. I kind of have an obsession with them.

Favorite Nail Polish: Since brights are my favorite type of nail polish, you can see why I like this hot pink OPI polish so much. It is definitely one of my favorite polishes that I own.

Favorite Hair Product: During the summer I never want to straighten my hair because of how long it takes. Using a beach spray like this makes beachy waves that won't fall out because of humid weather. This is one of my favorite sprays that I have used!

Stripes and Tiffany Blue

Gap Kids Shirt, Forever 21 Dress, Forever 21
Headband

I love finding ways to wear my clothes in different ways! This outfit is a great example of how I do that. The blue skirt is really just a simple tank dress. The dress is a gorgeous lighter blue that reminds me of Tiffany blue! I wanted to find a way to make it a little less boring though. I added this striped tee with a sequined pocket and pinned it shorter. This way it was more figure flattering and it showed more of the skirt.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July! Again, I would love if you voted in my poll about your favorite type of blog post. I have noticed that it isn't visible if you look at Simply Daring on an iPhone, but it is on a computer! Thanks for your help. I would really love to hear ideas from any of you! Email me, comment on this, or contact me through the Facebook page. Knowing what you want is very important so that I can post things you want to see! Pictures taken by Courtney.
